Sophomore Katie Steigleman posted her second double-double of the season Tuesday against Northwest and turn in the ninth double-double of her young Warrior career.
Steigleman's Game-High Showing Not Enough for Corban Against Northwest

SALEM, Ore. – Sophomore Katie Steigleman (Eugene, Ore.) scored a game-high 21 points on 9-for-22 shooting from the field to go along with a game-high 12 rebounds, but it was not enough as Corban's women's basketball team fell to Northwest, 82-73, Tuesday night inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
Following the result of tonight's final game before the Christmas holiday, Corban falls to 5-8 overall and 1-2 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action. Meanwhile, Northwest improves to 6-5 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
Along with Steigleman's game-high performance in both points and rebounds, freshman reserve Tess Bennett (Sutherlin, Ore.) added 14 points on 5-for-10 shooting from the field to go along with junior Kayla Shaughnessy's (Camano Island, Wash.) eight points off the bench.
Northwest opened the game on a 5-0 run over the first 90 seconds before Corban began the comeback and took a five-point lead (16-11) thanks to a 16-6 run over a span of nine-plus minutes. Both teams would battle back and forth over the final nine-plus minutes with Northwest grabbing a three-point lead (34-31) at intermission thanks to a closing 23-15 run that ended the first half of play.
In the second half, Northwest would extend its lead to as much as 17 points (63-46) after a three-pointer by Marielle McKean with 8:14 left in the game. Corban would pull within six points (67-61) following a lay-in by Bennett with 3:48 on the clock. Unfortunately, the host Warriors could not get any closer as Northwest held a double-digit lead for most of the second half and ended the game with the nine-point victory (82-73).
Northwest was led by Emily Drivstuen with 19 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the field, while Jessalyn Jackson added 17 points that included an 11-for-12 showing at the free throw line. Jessica Wilkerson and McKean rounded out the Eagles double-digit scorers with 16 and 14 points respectively, while Kailee Oliver pulled down a team-leading eight rebounds.
As a team, Corban shot 28-for-78 (35.9%) from the field to go along with a 6-for-18 (33.3%) showing from beyond the three-point line and an 11-for-17 (64.7%) performance at the free throw line. On the other hand, Northwest was 23-for-58 (39.7%) from the field, 6-for-16 (37.5%) from beyond the arc, and 30-for-41 (73.2%) at the charity stripe.
Corban will take a much-needed break over the next week before returning to the court on Wednesday, December 30th, against the Hustlin' Owls of Oregon Tech beginning at 5:30 p.m. in Klamath Falls.
