Foster Nets Career-High 36 Points as No. 11 Oregon Tech Rolls Past Concordia
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Oregon Tech's Joseph Foster dropped in a career-high 36 points and the Hustlin' Owls ran their home win streak to 26 in a row, as Tech picked up a 93-71 Cascade Conference win over visiting Concordia University at Danny Miles Court.
Oregon Tech’s offense was on a roll getting to the line early shooting 7-for-17. The Hustlin’ Owls would go into the half with a comfortable 49-29 lead, shooting 17-for-37 from the field knocking down 7 from long range.
Guard Kyle Gomez would come off the bench and drain 2 big three pointers to contribute to the lead along with Justin Parnell getting warm, shooting 4-of-7 with a three for insurance, to give Tech confidence to start the second half.
Concordia would continue with their aggressive play, allowing OIT numerous opportunities from the free throw line. Senior Justin Parnell would contribute putting in 6-8 from the line on the way to 20 points.
Along with forward Myles Daley's aggressive game high 12 rebounds and 7 points, Justin Parnell's eight rebounds and three assists allowed OIT some breathing room as the Hustlin’ Owls would retrieve 39 rebounds.
Concordia would get to the line often shooting 26-of-35 free throws. Cavalier senior Alex Thiefenthaler finished with a team-high 22 points leading the team in scoring, followed by 20 points from Gage Aker.
The Hustlin” Owls relentless attack to the rim and strong defense, thanks to 7 steals in the game, would stay consistent throughout the second half shooting 54 % from the field. Fouled on a three pointer with just a minute left to play, freshman David Clark would put all three down, in a befitting win over the once undefeated Concordia Cavaliers, 93-to-71.
OIT moves to 2-and-0 in the Cascade Conference and 11-and-1 on the season. Concordia falls to 1-1 in the CCC and 9-and-1 on the season.
The Oregon Tech Men's Basketball team will next play on the road traveling to College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon December 18th and 19th.
