Lady Owls Fall 74-62 to No. 19 Concordia

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Concordia University forward Danielle Clauson scored 16 first half points, on her way to a game-high 28, as Concordia handed Oregon Tech a 74-62 defeat in Cascade Collegiate Conference play tonight at Danny Miles Court. 

Oregon Tech dropped their first home contest of the season and fall to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in the conference standings. Concordia improves to 6-3 on the season and 1-1 in CCC play.

A Concordia 5-0 run broke a 6-6 tie, as the Cavaliers drove out to an 11-6 lead early in the game.

The Owls answered with their own 5-0 run to cut the deficit to 11-10, and a Colleen Hunt jumper at the 8:10 mark kept the Owls within two points at 22-20.

It was all Cavs to close out the first half, as CU took their largest lead of the period going on a 15-2 run to push the lead to 37-22 with 1:19 on the clock.

Oregon Tech's Kelsey New hit a 3-pointer to close out the scoring in the first period to send the Owls to the intermission down 12 points, 37-25.

A 12-2 Concordia run to start the second period gave the Cavs a 49-27 advantage and their largest lead of the game at 22 points.

The Owls kept battling and eventually cut the deficit in half on a Lisa Busch trey with 13:02 remaining, 53-42. The Cavaliers bumped their lead back up to 18 points, 69-51, with 5:20 to play, but again Tech got back in it trailing by 11 points, 69-58, with 3:37 remaining.

The Owls, however, could get no closer as the Cavs cruised to the 74-62 final.

Oregon Tech was led in scoring by Kellie Morey with 16 points. Lisa Busch and Kelsey New added 15 points each, followed by Morgan Hofman with six. Nicole Morgan grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and tied a game-high with six assists.

Clauson added six assists and 10 rebounds to go with a game-high 28 points to finish off her double-double. Megan Padilla followed with 15 points, five rebounds and six assists of her own. Ann Snodderly was the third Cav in double figures with 12 points and added six rebounds.
