OIT 5th, WPC 12th, EOU 23rd in NAIA Top 25
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – With a perfect 10-0 record, defending national champion Oklahoma Wesleyan holds as the No. 1 team in the second regular season edition of the 2009-2010 NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 poll, announced Monday by the NAIA office. Three CCC programs -- No. 5 Oregon Tech, No. 12 Warner Pacific, and No. 23 Eastern Oregon -- are listed in the poll. Concordia is receiving votes.
Through 10 games, Oklahoma Wesleyan leads the country in 3-pointers made (13.1 pg) and is fourth in scoring offense (93.8 ppg). The Eagles have hit 95-plus points on four occasions.
Off to its best start since the 1997-98 season, No. 2 Walsh (Ohio) moves up one spot. The Cavs are 8-0 on the year and earned 361 total points. Ranked No. 1 in the NAIA in scoring offense (109.3 ppg), Walsh has notched 100-plus points in four games including a school record 154 points (Dec. 4).
Next in line is No. 3 Northwood (Fla.), No. 4 Bethel (Ind.) and No. 5 Oregon Tech.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and independents. The third regular season Top 25 poll will be announced on Monday, Dec. 14.
