BONSALL, Calif. –The Concordia men’s golf team dropped six strokes from the first to the second round of play, but also dropped four places in the standings to finish in 12th at the CSU-San Marcos Invitational held at the San Luis Rey Downs.

After firing a 34-over 322 on Monday, the Cavaliers returned to post a 316 on Tuesday for a 638-stroke sum. A mere 18 strokes separated 10 of the 14 teams in the tournament.

Holy Names University held off a hard-charging CSU San Bernardino team to take home the title, posting a team total of 592, one shot better than CSU-San Bernardino's 593. CSU-East Bay placed third with a 620.
Concordia was edged by a single stroke by CSU Dominguez Hills.
San Diego State’s Ryan Citatella captured medalist honors with a 1-under 143. One stroke back, CSU-San Bernardino’s Gene Webster and San Diego’s Kenneth McCready tied for second at 144.

Concordia was led by A.J. Lightheart and Marc Arima with both golfers tying for 33rd with a 12-over 156. Dan Scobie tied for 48th with a 16-over 160, Brad Bachman scored a 24-over 168 and Tim Leinhos scored a 26-over 170 to round out the Concordia pack.

Originally scheduled for three rounds, the San Marcos Invite was shortened from to single rounds on each day thanks to rain on Monday.
