Baker Leads Raiders To 12th Straight Win

ASHLAND, ORE. - Ashley Baker turned in a career night to lead the 21st-ranked Southern Oregon women’s basketball team to a 75-66 victory over Northwest Christian at McNeal Pavilion.

Southern Oregon has now won 12 straight games and improved to 23-4 overall and 15-3 in Cascade Conference play. Northwest Christian dropped to 8-18 overall and 3-14 in conference action.

Baker scored 22 points on 10 of 16 shooting and also had a game-high 16 rebounds. Jacki Speer turned in her 18th double-double of the season with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Emily Brookins finished with 11 points and Whitney Scott had 10 points.

Elise Gray finished with 21 points for the Beacons.

Southern Oregon led 36-29 at the half and then held Northwest Christian to 37 percent shooting in the second half.

Baker took over the second half, scoring eight straight SOU points to push the Raider lead to 57-43 with 8:30 to play.

A Baker three-point play with 5:25 to play had the Raiders cruising at 67-53.

Senior Rhiannon Dickison finished with nine points, five rebounds and four assists in her final regular season home game at McNeal Pavilion.

The 12 straight wins for the Raiders ties a school record set during the 1997-98 season.
