Klamath Falls, Ore. – The No. 2 ranked Hustlin’ Owls got a career-high 30 points from Christian Cavanaugh, going 12-13 from the field, and ran past Northwest Christian University 98-67 tonight at Danny Miles Court. Oregon Tech moves to 23-5 on the season and stands in second place in the CCC standings at 13-5. NCU drops to 15-12 and even in the conference standings at 9-9.

With tonight’s win, the Owls finished their regular-season home schedule undefeated for the first time since the 1986-87 season.

Cavanaugh added eight rebounds, three steals and three assists to go with his career-high. Justin Parnell finished with 16 points and added seven assists in the win. Jguwon Hogges finished 3-7 from long range to tally 14 points, while Josh Wetzler netted 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds. In only 14 minutes, Andy Siverly netted seven points, grabbed five rebounds and handed out four assists.

Northwest Christian’s Garrett Crinklaw and Dylan Perry both finished with 13 points leading the Beacons in scoring. Brent McKee netted eight points and grabbed four rebounds, while Andrew Miller and Cameron Marshall followed with seven points each in the loss.

Oregon Tech jumped out to a 17-7 lead to start the game. NCU rallied to cut their deficit to four points, 22-18, with 6:25 remaining in the half. A 15-4 Owl run then pushed the lead to 37-22. Both teams then traded points, as the Owls took a 42-27 lead to the locker room.

A Christian Cavanaugh dunk with 16:32 to play in the game gave the Owls a 53-32 advantage starting the second stanza. NCU cut the lead to 14 points on two occasions, the last with 12:10 to play, 58-44.

Tech then took another 21 point lead on another Cavanaugh basket, 73-52, with 7:17 on the clock. NCU cut the deficit to 19 points, but got no closer, as the Owls cruised over the next six minutes of play to post the 96-67 win.
