Owl Comeback Nets 88-82 Overtime Victory

Klamath Falls, Ore. – The Oregon Tech women's basketball team came back from a 16-point second half deficit, eventually taking the game to overtime, and came away with an 88-82 victory over Northwest Christian University. Oregon Tech improves to 14-13 overall and 7-11 in conference play. The Beacons fall to 8-19 on the season and 3-15 in CCC action.

Nicole Morgan led the Owl attack with a double-double 27 points and 13 rebounds while adding six assists. Kellie Morey scored 26 points and grabbed three rebounds to go with two assists. Kelsey New scored 14 points in 24 minutes coming off the bench for the Owls, while Meagan Miyasaka finished with a game-high seven assists.

Elise Gray scored 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the loss. McKenzie Gambee finished with a double-double 18 point - 14 rebound effort. Callie McVicker and Jacquie Lipp both dropped in 12 points for the Beacons, with McVicker leading the NCU with six assists.

The Beacons started the game on an 8-0 run, before a Nicole Morgan 3-pointer got the Owls on the board. NCU would eventually take a commanding 42-29 lead into the locker room.

NCU continued to keep control of the game, eventually pushing the lead to 57-41 with 12:26 to play, and still holding onto a 13 point lead, 70-57, with 6:48 remaining.

It was all Owls from there as a 17-2 run, capped off by another Morgan 3-pointer, gave the Owls there first lead of the contest with 1:39 on the clock.

NCU tied the contest at 74-74 on the next possession, but not before a Kellie Morey layup gave the lead back to Tech. Two free throws for NCU tied the game again, and when a Nicole Morgan jumper rimmed out, the game went to overtime.

NCU held an 82-81 lead, but when Tech’s Kellie Morey connected on her fourth 3-pointer, the Owl held a slim 84-82 advantage. Two more Tech free throws pushed the lead to 86-82 with just 24 ticks on the clock. The Beacons then missed on their next possession, and an ensuing foul sent Tech to the charity stripe, where Lisa Busch iced the game with 10 seconds left making the final 88-82.
