Senior Duo Leads Cascade In Final Home Game

PORTLAND, Ore. - Robin Swain erupted for 32 points and Amy Russell added 15 as the two seniors led Cascade to a 75-73 win over Corban in the Thunderbirds last ever home game at the Thunderdome tonight.
Riding an emotional high, Cascade (11-14, 4-14 CCC) jumped out to a 16-6 lead early on, only to see Corban climb back to tie the game at 29-29 on two Monique Tribble freethrows with 47 seconds in the half. Kristina Schumacher hit a runner soon after to give Cascade a slim advantage at the break.
Corban (10-16, 6-12 CCC) muscled ahead in the early action in the second period, forging a 56-47 advantage thanks at the 11:09 mark. The T-Birds then went on a 10-0 burst over the next :60 seconds thanks to 5 points each from Krystal Glass and Swain.
The teams swapped leads 4 more times down the stretch until Swain hit a long trey from the corner to put the hosts up for good at 73-70 with :30 on the clock. Tribble hit a spin hook to bring the Warriors to within one, but Swain iced the game with two free throws moments later.
"Robin and Amy carried us tonight," said coach Matt Murphy. "They have been a pleasure to coach and I'm so happy we were able to close out their careers and the program here at Cascade with a home win."
In addition to Swain (32) and Russell (15), Maya Gross chipped in with 9 points and 13 rebounds.
Katie Steigleman led four Warriors in double figures with 18 points.
