Owls Drop Two at No. 16 Fresno Pacific
Fresno, Calif. - The Oregon Tech baseball team fell to the No. 16 ranked Fresno Pacific Sunbirds in today’s doubleheader, 7-5 in game one, and 3-0 in the nightcap. The Owls drop to 4-6 on the season.
The Owls held a 5-0 advantage heading to the seventh inning of game one, but it was the home team plating four runs in the bottom of the seventh and three more in the eight to take a 7-5 lead. FPU held the Owl scoreless in the ninth to take game one by the same 7-5 score.
Tech’s Kory Locken went 3-5 at the plate, while both Ryson Mauricio and Lee Eklund tallied two hits each. Eklund drove in four of the Owls’ five runs in the opening game. Quinn Hummel, Cory Spires and Trent Smith each finished 1-3, with Hummel adding an RBI.
Freshman Dylan Bedortha pitched six innings for the Owls, allowing only two hits and three runs. Bedortha stuck out three and walked three batters. Chad Trevisan (1-1) was the pitcher of record, going 1.1 innings and giving up three runs in the loss.
Game two saw FPU hurler, Daniel Brodie, go six innings and only allowed the Owls two hits in a 3-0 Sunbird win. FPU scored three runs in the third and hung on for the shutout victory.
Lee Eklund was 2-3 at the plate, while Ryson Mauricio and Trent Smith picked up a hit each. Cory Stratton went three innings on the mound, giving up five hits and three runs. Frank Charlton pitched three innings in relief, and gave up only two hits.
