PORTLAND, Ore. –Jguwon Hogges netted a career-high 30 point to push No. 10 Oregon Tech past Concordia 80-66 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action on Friday night.

With the win, the defending NAIA champions Oregon Tech improved to 24-5 on the season and 14-5 in CCC play. With one game to play, the Owls stand one game back of CCC leaders Eastern Oregon (22-5, 15-4 CCC).

The Concordia dropped to 9-20 overall with a 3-16 mark in league action. The Cavs conclude its regular season by hosting Southern Oregon tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m.

With five different players scoring in the first five minutes, Oregon Tech took a 15-5 lead to open the first. Concordia’s Gage Aker connected on a three pointer with 12:19 to play in the period to cut the margin to six with the score 17-11, but that would be as close as the Cavs would get as OIT quickly regained its double-digit advantage.

Shooting 50 percent from the field and with eight points each by Justin Parnell and Josh Weitzer in the first half, the Owls extended its lead to as many as 17 in the first half before settling for a 40-27 lead at the break.

Hogges broke loose in the second, scoring 21 of his 30 point to prevent any comeback hopes from the Cavaliers. The 5-foot-8 senior guard connected on 5-of-8 from the floor and 10-of-12 from the free throw line in the second period for a new career high.

Parnell finished with 14 points while teammate Christian Cavanaugh recorded a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

Concordia was led by 13 points from senior guard Steven Vaughan. Alex Tiefenthaler added 12, Desmond Meray 11 and Jourdan Sweeney 10 as four Cavaliers reached double figures.

The Owls outrebounded CU 45-27 and shot 49.1 percent compared to 44.8 percent for the home team.
