PORTLAND, Ore. –The No. 8-ranked Concordia women’s basketball team defeated Oregon Tech 82-54 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action on Friday night to set up a regular-season finale on Saturday with a conference championship on the line.

With the win, Concordia improved to 25-2 on the year and 18-1 in CCC play. The Cavaliers conclude its regular season at home against Southern Oregon (23-5, 15-4 CCC) tomorrow. With a win, CU captures the regular season CCC championship and gains an automatic berth into the NAIA National Tournament held in Sioux City, Iowa, March 11-17.

The College of Idaho (27-3, 18-2 CCC), currently second in the CCC standings, would need a CU loss against the Raiders to equal the Cavaliers for the league's co-championship. Eleventh-ranked C of I defeated Northwest Christian 78-76 on Friday night on a last-second basket. Southern Oregon was ranked No. 19 in the latest NAIA Poll.

Behind six quick points by Amanda Johnston, Oregon Tech opened the game with an 11-6 lead, prompting an early timeout by the Concordia bench. Returning to the court, the Cavaliers reeled off 15 straight points for a 21-11 lead with 9:19 remaining. The Cavs would continue to roll the rest of the period, gaining as much as a 26-point lead before a jumper by OIT’s Aundrea Albright connected on a jumper with two seconds left in the half for a 45-21 deficit.

The Cavs wound up outscoring OIT 39-10 after the timeout at the 14:19 mark.

Concordia would continue to distance itself in the second half, eventually mounting a 76-35 lead with eight minutes remaining. The Owls cut into the margin in the waning moments, outpacing the Cavs 19-6 down the stretch.

Rebecca Gimeno led four players in double figures for the Cavs. Gimeno also added a game-high 10 rebounds for the ‘double-double’. Danielle Clauson added 14 on a 6-of-9 shooting performance while Angela Gimeno and Ann Snodderly each posted a 10-point game. Snodderly tied a season-high with six blocks.

OIT was led by nine points from Meagan Miyasaka. Johnston and Albright each had eight points.

Concordia outshot the Owls 44.4 percent to 33.9 percent in the game and enjoyed a 49-to-33 edge in rebounds.
