ESC Defeats Thunderbirds in Final Regular Season Game

OLYMPIA, Wash. - Evergreen will advance to the Cascade Conference Tournament as the #4 seed and host #5 College of Idaho at 7:30 PM in the Greenhouse. The Geoducks celebrated their "Senior Night" with a win over Cascade College, a team that played their last game tonight. Cascade will close their doors at the end of the school year.

Evergreen came out firing, scoring 56 points in the first half and three players already in the double digits as they led the Thunderbirds by 18 points at the intermission.

The second half was considerably slower paced, with numerous fouls called. The Thunderbirds gave all they had to keep in the game. Cascade saw three players foul out and the game included three player technical fouls.

Nathan Menefee, hot off a school record eighth 30 point plus game last night, led all scorers and contributed 25 points and 8 rebounds for Evergreen.

Six Geoducks scored in the double figures.

All five seniors saw game time and scored in their final regular season game for ESC. Michael Ward pulled in 8 rebounds and scored 16 points, Julio Feliciano scored 13 points, Nick Moore and John Levi III each tallied 11 points with Levi adding 5 assists, 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Aaron Schlund hit a basket and blocked a shot.

Levi III had a special night above being honored as a graduating senior, during the pre-game ceremony he proposed to his girlfriend on the court.

She said, "Yes".

The team shot 47% in field goal attempts to Cascade's 36.6%.

For the Thunderbirds four players were in the double points. Erving Adams tallied 19 points and 11 rebounds for a double double game. Jason McCall and Josh Brown had 18 and 17 points respectively. Kao Saelee hit 3-4 from three point range and totaled 13 points for the night.

The top eight teams in the Cascade Conference advance to the tournament. Teams were seeded in the eight-team CCC Tournament according to regular season conference finish.
