Evergreen's Menefee Named CCC Men's Hoops Player of Week
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Evergreen’s Nathan Menefee, the No. 2 scorer in the NAIA Division II ranks, has been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Player of the Week in men’s basketball.
Menefee, a 5-11 junior guard from Tacoma, Wash., poured in 59 points in two games last weekend as the Geoducks improved to 17-10 and nailed down the No. 4 seed in the CCC Tournament.
In a 99-88 victory over 13th-ranked Warner Pacific on Friday, Menefee hit 12 of 20 field goal attempts and finished with 34 points, setting a single-season Evergreen record with his eighth 30-point outing of the season. One night later, Menefee scored 25 points, pulled down eight rebounds and added four assists in a 90-76 win over Cascade College.
The CCC’s Preseason Player of the Year, Menefee is averaging 24.4 points per game.
