Concordia's Matt Ochs Named to Second-Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 8 Team
PORTLAND, Ore. –Concordia University’s Matt Ochs (Clackamas, Ore./Clackamas H.S.) was named to the second-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 8 College Division men’s basketball team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday, Feb. 5.
Ochs, a 6-foot-6 forward, has a 3.91 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in business. He was also a second-team selection last season. To be eligible, student-athletes must have a 3.30 or better cumulative GPA on a 4-point scale, have sophomore athletic standing, and be a starter or key reserve for their team.
Ochs is currently leading the Cavaliers in shooting percentage for the second straight season. After shooting .553 from the floor last year, he has fired at a .538 clip this year, going 64-of-119 from the field. Ochs leads the team in total rebounds with 127. He is averaging 6.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while making 21 starts in 23 contests. Ochs was the 2006-07 Cascade Collegiate Conference Freshman of the Year and was a CCC All-Academic Team Member last season.
