Klamath Falls, Ore. – Warner Pacific held the Oregon Tech women’s basketball team to just 27.3% shooting (15-55) to secure a 64-52 win tonight at Danny Miles Court. Oregon Tech drops to 12-12 overall and 5-10 in the conference standings. Warner Pacific improved to 12-12 on the season and 8-7 in Cascade Conference action.

Oregon Tech’s Nicole Morgan finished with a double-double 20 points and game-high 11 rebounds in the losing effort. Amanda Johnston netted 12 points and grabbed five rebounds, followed by Kellie Morey with seven.

Kelsey Mattsen led Warner Pacific with 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Marissa Towry dropped in 12 points, followed by Steffanie Rider with nine points and a team-high nine rebounds.

Both teams started slowly, seeing the game tied at only 7-7 with 11:25 to play in the first half. A Warner Pacific 15-5 run gave the visiting Knights their first double-digit lead at 22-12. The Owls would trail by as many as 14 points with 2:03 in the half, before a Nicole Morgan 3-point field goal at the buzzer cut the deficit to 11 points, 33-22, at the intermission.

The Owls scored the first four points of the second half, cutting the deficit to 33-26. An ensuing 8-0 Knight run gave Warner a 15 point cushion, 41-26, with 17:02 on the clock. The Knights would then lead by as many as 17 points, looking to run away with the game. The Owls then came storming back, finding themselves with the ball and down only seven points, 55-48, with over five minutes to play. That was as close as Tech would get, as the team’s traded points for the remainder of the game with Warner Pacific taking the contest 64-52.

Oregon Tech will host Cascade College on Saturday, February 7th, with the tip-off set for 5:30 p.m.
