No. 3 Oregon Tech Downs Cascade, 84-66
Klamath Falls, Ore. – The No. 3 ranked Oregon Tech Hustlin’ Owls finished with a weekend sweep in Cascade Conference play after knocking off Cascade College 84-66 tonight at Danny Miles Court. Oregon Tech improves to 22-4 overall and 12-4 in CCC play. The Thunderbirds drop to 11-13 on the season and 4-12 in conference action.
Jguwon Hogges scored a game-high 26 points to go with five rebounds, six assists and six steals in the win. Justin Parnell knocked down 14 points, grabbed five rebounds to go with four assists. Josh Wetzler finished with eight points and six rebounds, while Myles Daley scored six points and grabbed a team-high nine boards.
Erving Adams led the Thunderbird attack with 19 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. Josh Brown netted 13 points and five rebounds, followed by Jason McCall and Jared Mace with 11 points each.
The Owls jumped out to a 20-10 lead, but a 12-3 Thunderbird run cut the Cascade deficit to only one point, 23-22, with 9:08 in the first half. Oregon Tech then built an eight point advantage before Cascade would trim it back to 39-33 at intermission.
At the 15:42 mark the OIT lead was 15 points, 53-38, as Tech looked to run away with the game.
Cascade then clawed back, and on a Josh Brown 3-pointer, were only down six points, 56-50, with 9:15 to play.
It was all Owls after that, as Tech built leads of 15 points on four separate occasions, eventually going up as many as 20 points and settle for the final score of 84-66.
Oregon Tech next travels to arch-rival Southern Oregon on Tuesday night to take on the Raiders at McNeal Pavilion.
