CU's Rebecca Gimeno Named CCC Women's Hoop Player of the Week
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Concordia University’s Rebecca Gimeno, a 5-4 senior guard from Spokane, Wash., has been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Player of the Week in women’s basketball.
Gimeno totaled 40 points, eight rebounds, six assists and one steal last week in leading the Cavaliers to a pair of victories, including an 84-73 victory over ninth-ranked College of Idaho. The win over the Yotes allowed the Cavs to take over sole possession of first place in the CCC. Gimeno had 23 points and five rebounds vs. C of I.
In a 72-64 win over Eastern Oregon, Gimeno had 17 points three rebounds and two assists. In two games, she hit 59 percent (13 of 22) from the field and 86 percent (12 of 14) from the free throw line.
The Cavaliers, who extended their winning streak to seven straight, improved to 22-2 on the season. Concordia jumped four spots to the No. 9 position in this week’s NAIA Top 25 poll.
