NU Freshmen Trio Tops in PLU Spring Open
PARKLAND, Wash. - Northwest University Eagle freshmen Paige DeLapp, Lindsey Wessa and Seth Bridges all took top honors in their events in a good NU showing at the PLU Spring Open on Saturday.
DeLapp (Vancouver, Wash.) started things off for the Eagle youngsters with her victory in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:25.78, seven seconds over the second place finisher, Ericka Hicks of Warner Pacific.
Lindsey Wessa (Battle Ground, Wash.) won the women's pole vault clearing a height of 2.90m, edging out Sarah Norman and Jana Gedde (both unattached) who tied for second with identical vaults of 2.75m.
Bridges (Anderson Island, Wash.) barely edged out John Phillips of PLU by .57 seconds in the men's 1500 meter run as he broke through the tape at 4:12.21 with Phillips right behind him at 4:12.78. Teammate Tyler Hart finished 6th in 4:20.91.
Another NU freshman, Alisha Larion (Sammamish, Wash.), took second in the women's shot put event with her toss of 10.25m.
"I think we competed well," commented head track coach Preston Brashers. "With three freshmen winning events today, I think we showed the future is bright."

- Alisha Larion, 2nd, Shot Put - 10.25m; 12th Javelin Throw - 21.99m
- Cadie Kneip, 3rd, Discus - 31.87m; 5th, Hammer Throw- 30.85m
- Jessica Kneip, 2nd, Discus - 31.75m
- Women's 4 X 400 Relay, 3rd place: Prause, Harris, Miller, DeLapp
Eagle men's finishers consisted of:
- Jimmy Reed, 9th, 100m Dash - 11.65; 8th, 200m Dash - 23.50
- Tyler Hart, 6th, 1500m run - 4:20.91
- Bob Roach, 14th, Shot Put - 9.14m; 14th, Hammer Throw - 24.14m
- Luke Fischer, 13th, Discus - 29.30m; 13th, Hammer Throw - 24.45m; 4th, Javelin - 46.87m
- Tyler Petty, 11th, Hammer Throw - 26.62m; 13th Javelin - 33.96m
- Doug Hein, 14th, Javelin - 30.99m
