CALDWELL, Idaho - Jessica Martin pitched a three-hit shutout in the opener, then worked out of a sixth inning jam to pick up a complete game win in the nightcap, as Utah Valley swept a doubleheader from The College of Idaho, 4-0 and 5-3, at Symms Field.

The Wolverines (6-9) jumped on the board quickly in Game 1, as Meghan Woodworth walked, stole second, then scored on a slap-single from Magen Niemann.  They'd get an insurance run in the sixth, as Woodworth scored on a two-out error by Stacy Smith, who dropped a fly ball off the bat of Kylee Steadman.

The Lady Yotes (4-9) had a chance to tie in the bottom of the sixth, putting runners at second and third with two outs, but Martin coaxed Brooke Judy to ground out to third to end the threat.

Jody Zillner took the loss, allowing just six hits, one walk, and six strikeouts.  Niemann went 3-for-4 for UVU, while Heather Dixon had a 2-for-3 game for the Coyotes.

Game 2 saw the NCAA Division I squad jump out to a 4-0 lead after two innings, getting a Niemann RBI single and a Cherylyn McGraw sacrifice fly in the first,  Maggie Christiansen added an RBI single in the second, with another run scoring on a C of I error.

The Coyotes finally got on the board in the fourth, as Haley Butcher laced a two-out RBI single, but UVU took advantage of another C of I error in the fifth to push the lead to 5-1.  It got interesting in the sixth as Amy Rhoades plated a run with an RBI single, with Donnae Carrell adding a sacrifice fly to cut the lead in half.  However, with the tying runs in scoring position, Martin got Caylin LePire to fly out to the warning track in left-center to end the frame.

Dixon recorded a second 2-for-3 game for the Yotes, while Niemann, Steadman, and Amanda Perez each had two hits for the Wolverines.

The Lady Yotes return to action next Tuesday, hosting Northwest Nazarene at 4:30 p.m.
