SALEM, Ore. – In Monday's 36-hole Willamette Invitational hosted at nearby Creekside Golf Club, Corban's men's golf team finished in a tie for second place along with NCAA Division III member Pacific thanks to a combined two-round total of 52-over 628.

Freshman Joey Duwe (Kingston, Wash.) led the Warriors' squad with an eighth place performance after carding back-to-back scores of 5-over 77 (77-77=154) in cold, wet conditions that did not produce a score under par in the 41-player field.

Along with Duwe, fellow freshman Boe Brodhun (Port Angeles, Wash.) finish in a five-way tie for 12th place after carding a two-round total of 17-over 161 (79-82). Brodhun's opening round score was his second collegiate round in the 80s following a career-low 76 in the final round at the season-opening Pacific Invitational two weeks ago.

Senior Nathan Furumasu (Gladstone, Ore.) over came an opening round 12-over 84 with a closing 18-hole total of 5-over 77 that propelled him into a tie for 12th individually (84-77=161). In today's second round, Furumasu helped the Warriors jump out of a tie for third after the morning round thanks to his first sub-80 round of the spring season.

Freshman Michael May (Salem, Ore.) rebounded from an opening 15-over 87 that saw him place last among Corban's competitors with a team-low 4-over 76 in the second round. The first-year Warrior moved from a tie for 32nd following the morning round to a tie for 18th individually thanks to a two-round total of 19-over 163 (87-76).

Fellow freshman Chris Dudley (Boise, Idaho) ended the event in a tie for 24th place individually thanks to a combined score of 22-over 166 (83-83). Meanwhile, sophomore Steve Landis (Gladstone, Ore.) struggled during the second and final round with a 15-over 87 after bringing home an opening round of 8-over 80 to finish all alone in 26th place individually with a combined score of 23-over 167.

As a team, Corban combined to shot a four-player total of 28-over 316 in the morning round and were tied with tournament-host Willamette for third place. In the afternoon round, the Warriors used a combined team total of 22-over 312 to leap frog over Walla Walla Community College and into a two-team tie for second place.

Linfield College took home the team title thanks to a combined two-round total of 23-over 599 that included a second round score of 4-over 292. Individually, Pacific's Max Bonk was the medalist with a tournament-low 2-over 146 (74-72) that was a mere one stroke better than Linfield's Yutaro Sakamoto (75-72=147).

Corban will return to the links on Monday and Tuesday, March 23rd & 24th, at the Concordia Invitational to open the conference's spring season. The 54-hole event will take place at Tri-Mountain Golf Course in Ridgefield, Washington beginning each day at 8:00 a.m.
