Eagles Sign Three More for 2009
KIRKLAND, Wash. - Northwest U. men's head soccer coach, Gary McIntosh, announced the signing of three key defensive players who will help anchor the Eagle defense for the next three to four years. Coach McIntosh commented, "These three players will make us stronger in the back right away. They are all experienced players and they bring a lot of soccer knowledege to the game. Defense wins championships and with these three guys it puts us in a great position to win."
Joe Galbraith, 6-4 Goal Keeper, Whitefish, Montana
In high school Galbraith was the starting keeper for the Whitefish Bulldogs for his junior and senior year. The highlight of these years was playing on a team with no losses in 27 straight games. The undefeated season his junior year culminating with the State Championship victory. Coach McIntosh comments "Joe brings championship experience to the Northwest soccer program. He knows how to win games in the goal. Joe's height at 6'4' will be an intimidating presence in goal for us. He is very athletic and technically sound. This is a huge signing is securing up the goal for the future."
Jason A Skolnik, 6-1 Defender, Port Orchard, Washington
Jason plays for Westsound FC 90 and South Kitsap High School. He has been a starter on his high school team since his sophomore year. Skolnik is the team captain for his club team. Notable tournaments - Attended NOMADS in San Diego 2006/2007 and 2008. Boise Club Regional's in 2007. Washington Premier Showcase of Champions in 2006 and 2008. Portland College Showcase 2007. Tukwila College Showcase in 2008/2009. Placed 2nd in Washington State Youth Championship 2008, attended Western Regional's in Hawaii 2008, as Wildcard. "Jason is a tremendous defender and with his size at 6'1' he adds a defensive presence that is needed in the back line," stated coach McIntosh. "He is a very smart player and technically good. This is a great signing for us. Jason will be running the defense for the next four years."
Kyle Tatro, 6-2 Defender, Everett, Washington
Tatro played one year at Edmonds CC, playing defense for the Tritons. He is currently a coach with the Eastside FC club. Coach McIntosh states, "Kyle is a very good defender and he also knows how to get involved in the offense. He is a mature player and will help solidify and anchor the defense for us for the next three years."
