OIT Baseball Drops Doubleheader to Bethany
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.. – The Oregon Tech baseball team dropped a series opening doubleheader to Bethany University today in Klamath Falls, 6-3 in game one and 19-3 in the nightcap. The Owls drop to 15-11 on the season and 9-5 in NAIA West Region play. The Bruins improve to 7-16 on the year and 4-9 in West Region action.
Tech’s Kory Locken had two hits and scored two runs in game one. Zach Earle drove in two runs on a seventh inning homerun, while Ryson Mauricio tallied an RBI for the Owls in the loss. Pitcher Josh Strom went six strong innings, giving up only four hits and one earned run. Strom stuck out seven batters, dropping to 4-3 on the season.
Bethany’s Ryan Bezart had two hits, while pitcher Matt Rossignol, picking up his first win on the year, improved to 1-5.
Game two was all Bruins, as they pounded out 27 hits, including 11 consecutive in a 12-run sixth inning, taking the nightcap 19-3.
Locken went 2-5 at the plate and drove in a run. Mauricio and Quinn Hummel had two hits apiece, with Hummel adding an RBI. Neil Emerson was the pitcher of record, dropping to 2-2 on the season. Emerson went 4.1 innings, surrendered 10 hits and struck out three Bruins.
Derrin Gobin went 5-6 at the plate for the Bruins, while Ryan Allan and Vincent Herrera had four hits each. Allan drove in four runs, including a three-run homerun in the win. Barron Razi pitched eight innings, allowing seven hits and striking out 10 Owl batters. Razi improved to 2-4 with the win.
Both teams will conclude the four-game series Saturday with the first of two games beginning at 11 a.m. at Kiger Stadium.
