Mounties Go Blue vs Gold

LA GRANDE, Ore. - With the weather cooperating nicely (temps in the 60s for most of the meet), the EOU Track teams were joined by Northwest Nazarene and Treasure Valley Community College for the 2nd Annual EOU Blue and Gold Meet.
The Women recorded nine event winners and 8 runners up. The Men had 5 winners and 6 runners up.
The Women's squad recorded 29 marks that surpass the 2009 Cascade Collegiate Conference qualifying standard (16 of them "new marks" and the rest are repeats or improvements on marks set last week in Nampa, ID). The men recorded 14 qualifying marks with 8 of them new marks rather than improvements on previous marks. The season total for Women's conference qualifiers now stands at 21 with a total of 47 qualifying marks in 16 events. The Men's total currently stands at 12 individuals with 27 qualifying marks in 12 events.
Chris Hoppie lead the charge on the men's side Friday, when he hit four conference qualifying marks (110 Hurdles, Long Jump, Shot Put and Discus) in his first meet of the Outdoor season. Chris Dilley and Mitch Wheelhouse both improved on their NAIA National Qualifying Marks in the Hammer to help highlight the meet.
Freshman standouts Orie Gamez, Kimmy Moore and Alma Garcilazo continue to lead the charge for EOU as they each have multiple conference qualifying marks now. Gamez added the 100 and 100 Hurdles to go with the 200 and 400 qualifiers she recorded last week. Moore added the Javelin to the two she hit last week (both hurdles) and Garcilazo added the 1500 and 400 to the 800 and 200 she hit last week.
The Mounties will be off until April 3rd and 4th when the distance squad will head over to Willamette University for a Distance Carnival and then the following week the entire team will travel to Spokane, WA.
