Megan Platz heading to home after a three-run homerun, her first of two on the day.
LA GRANDE, Ore. - The Mountaineers faced off in a doubleheader with the Red Hawks of Simpson College. Eastern Oregon fell in both contests, 7-4 and 6-4. Eastern managed to hit well, but were unable to find a way to pull out the wins.
In the first contest the Mounties simply couldn't stop the Red Hawks bats, allowing seven runs on thirteen hits. The game saw Megan Platz take a pitch deep for a three-run homerun, which was her first of the day.
The second game of the doubleheader, the Mountaineers led 2-0 early, but gave up four runs in the third inning to trail 4-2, but two more runs in the bottom of the third left the game tied at 4-4.
Two of those runs came off of a Platz homerun, which was her second of the day. Disaster struck for the Mounties in the top of the seventh inning, as a passed ball turned into two runs for Simpson. The Mountaineers were unable to score in the bottom of the seventh inning, and fell 6-4 to Simpson.
Eastern will now head to Pendleton, Ore. to face the Timberwolves of Blue Mountain Community College. Those contests are scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. PST.
