Coyote Men's Soccer Signs Nine for 2009
CALDWELL, Idaho - Mountain View High senior Zach Richardson headlines the 2009 College of Idaho men’s soccer recruiting class, as head coach Brian Smith unveiled nine new Coyotes for the upcoming season.
Richardson, a 5-11 centerback, is a three-time All-Southern Idaho Conference and 5A All-State selection, helping MVHS to the 2006 state championship and runner-up finishes in 2007 and 2008. He also helped his Boise Capitals Soccer Club to three-consecutive state championships.
Joining Richardson in the recruiting class are midfielders Brian Buckingham and Zach Pulkinen, along with forwards Cesar Aguirre and Matt Kelly. Buckingham was the Idaho 5A Player of the Year in 2006, then helped Walla Walla CC to a 33-7-5 record in his two seasons, including the 2008 NWAACC championship. Pulkinen heads to The C of I from Minot, N.D., where he was an All-State selection at Magic City High. Aguirre comes to The C of I from North Idaho College, where he was an All-Region 18 selection last year – having scored eight goals in leading his team to the regional title. Kelly was a two-time All-State selection at Henley High in Klamath Falls, Ore., earning Conference Player of the Year honors as a junior and senior.
Rounding out the class are a pair of defenders – Parker Waddell of Meridian High and Taylor Allen of Durango High in Las Vegas, midfielder Stephen Franden of McCall-Donnelly High, and forward Carlos Gomez of Centennial High.
The Coyotes are coming off a 14-3-1 season and Cascade Conference South Division championship.
