MCMINNVILLE, Ore.—With 3,853 points in a third-place finish, Concordia’s Dominique Jacoy added more than 300 points to her own school record in the heptathlon at the Linfield Multis on Tuesday.

Resting in third place after Monday’s events, Jacoy maintained her position with a fourth-place finish in the long jump, a third-place finish in the javelin and a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run. Jacoy got her biggest individual event sum in the 800 with 572 points.

Her two-day sum of 3,853 defeated her previous best of 3,515 points accumulated at the 2008 Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships.

With 3,338 points, Southern Oregon senior Rosie Converse finished fifth in the heptathlon. Converse’s day was highlighted by a sixth-place finish in the 800 (2:40.45). Converse also finished eighth in the javelin (87-00) and 11th in the long jump (13-07.50).

Western Oregon’s Mandy Keifer and Jacque Helbling went 1-2 in the heptathlon, switching places from yesterday’s standings with Keifer taking gold with 4,061 points to Helbling’s 3,989.

On the men’s side, Warner Pacific’s Brett VanAsch placed third in the decathlon with 6,173 points. A day after posting the top score in the shot, VanAsch notched the second best throw in the discus with a 116-6 toss. He also scored a third-place result in the 110-meter hurdles and a fourth-place finish in the pole vault on the second day.

Alex Waroff finished seventh in the decathlon for SOU with 5,745 points. Waroff’s day included three top five finishes. Waroff finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 112-07, fourth in the javelin (157-02) and fourth in the 1,500 (4:49.60). Waroff also finished sixth in the pole vault with a vault of 12-07.50 and 11th in the 110 hurdles (17.53).

Concordia’s Patrick Fennimore dropped one spot to ninth place with 5,269 total points. Fennimore nearly duplicated Jacoy’s feet by coming within 26 points of the Concordia school record of 5,295 set in 2007. Fennimore’s best result on the second day came in the 110-meter hurdles where he placed eighth with a time of 17.18 for a 606-point haul.

Also competing for Warner Pacific were Cody Moore and Shawn Miller. Moore finished in 12th place with 4,699 points while Miller scored 4,082 points for 18th place.

Linfield’s Josh Lovell generated 6,582 points for the decathlon win.
