Oregon Tech Sweeps Red Hawks, 10-2 and 8-0
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech scored eight runs in the sixth inning to win game one and Bess Fagan pitched a one-hitter and drove in four runs in the nightcap, helping the Owls to a non-conference doubleheader win over Simpson University today 10-2 and 8-0.
The Owls improve to 8-7 on the season heading into Cascade Conference play this weekend. Simpson University drops to 19-17 overall.
Jenny Austin drove in the Owls’ first run of the game in the second inning to tie the contest 1-1. Simpson regained the lead 2-1 in the third inning, but it was all Owls after that.
A Sunceray Titus double drove in two runs and a Katie King RBI single put the Owls up 4-2 in the fifth inning. Austin led off the sixth for Tech with a triple and scored on a Chelsea McNeil single that followed. A walk and a Sinicrope triple plated two additional runs for the Owls. Andria Wheatley then singled to put Tech up 8-2 and Brittany Warren closed game one out with a walk off single that scored two runs, as the Owls won the shortened contest 10-2
Wheatley, Titus, Warren and McNeil had two hits each for the Owls in the win. Becca Anderson held Simpson to just five hits and an earned run, while striking out five Red Hawk batters. Anderson improved to 4-2 on the season.
Bess Fagan cleared the bases with a triple in the first inning of game two to put the Owls up early, 3-0. A Fagan RBI triple in the third inning, followed by a bases loaded walk to McNeil and a three-run double by Amber Sinicrope put the Owls up 8-0.
Tech held the Red Hawks scoreless for the remaining two innings and went on to win another shortened game, 8-0, in the nightcap
Fagan finished 3-3 at the plate, including two triples a single and four RBI. Fagan improved her record in the circle to 3-4 and gave up only one hit in four innings of work.
Amber Sinicrope was 2-2 in the nightcap.
The Owls begin league action Friday, March 27th hosting Corban College (12-10) at 2:00 pm. Tech will then face Concordia University (13-1) on Saturday, March 28th in a doubleheader beginning at 11:00 am.
