SAN FRANCISCO —Competing in her first outdoor track competition of her career for Concordia, junior Andria Scheese tackled the school record in the 1,500 and notched an NAIA automatic qualifying mark in the same race at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival held at Cox Stadium on Friday.

Scheese placed second overall behind Oregon State sophomore Casey Masterson with a 4:38.26. Masterson crossed in 4:35.28 for first while Idaho’s Teeghan Schoch placed third with a 4:38.97.

“For me it was the highlight of the day,” Concordia head coach Randy Dalzell said. “To go there and get second overall and run a 14-15 second personal record is a tremendous improvement. She made a big move and rolled through the finish line.”

Scheese’s time set the Concordia school record by nearly 13 seconds while falling below the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championship ‘A’ standard by more than five seconds to spare.

Also competing in the race, Linsie Michels finished in ninth place overall with a 4:51.05, a time good for third all-time on the Concordia performance list.
