Oregon Tech Splits with No. 14 Concordia

Klamath Falls, OR -- Oregon Tech and No 14 Concordia split their double header Saturday afternoon with Tech dominating game 1 winning 12-0, game 2 went to the visitors from Portland 5-3. With the split Oregon Tech goes to 9-10 overall and 1-3 to start Cascade Conference play. Concordia moves to 14-4 overall and 1-3 in CCC play.

In game 1, Oregon Tech scored 3 runs on 4 hits in the bottom of the first highlighted by a Katie King (Hillsboro, OR) 2-run single that bounced-off the left-center field fence. The flood gates then opened up in the bottom of the 2nd when Oregon Tech scored 8 times on only 4 hits, taking advantage of 4 Cavalier errors. The Hustlin’ Owls added 1 more run in the 3rd making it 12-0. The game was called after 4 ½ innings with Tech winning 12-0.

Oregon Tech pitcher Becca Anderson (Molalla, OR) picked up her 5th win of the season giving up just 4 hits in 4 innings. Concordia pitcher Danielle Pulfrey (Hillsboro,OR) only went 1.2 innings giving up 6 hits and 7 runs (3 earned) in picking up only her 2 lose of the season moving to 9-2.

In game 2, Concordia pitcher Danielle Pulfrey bounced back with a great effort going the distance giving up just 5 hits and 3 runs while striking out 7 Hustlin’ Owls in picking up her 10th win of the season.

Concordia scratched across a run in the 1st on 3-hits, and then went up 2-0 on a homerun to deep center off the bat of Denise Benedict (Ridgefield, WA) in the 2nd inning. Tech answered tying the game at 2-2 in the 3rd inning when Sunceray Titus (Salem, OR) sliced a 2-run single into left field. The Cavaliers however took the lead for good 4-2 in the 4th as Shalina Morris (Gresham, OR) hit a towering 2-run homerun to deep centerfield. Oregon Tech’s Sunceray Titus was at it again in the bottom of the 4th, smashing a deep homerun to left field to make it a 4-3 ballgame. Concordia tacked on an insurance run in the 5th then closed the door on Oregon Tech winning game 2 5-3.

Oregon Tech will host Northwest Christian in a double-header this Friday, April 3, 2009 starting at 2:00 pm at the Oregon Tech Softball Complex.
