Cavs Finish 10th at Lady Otter Spring Invite
SEASIDE, Calif.—Adding 19 strokes to their sum from the first round, the Concordia women’s golf team dropped four places to tenth overall at the
Lady Otter Spring Invitational on Tuesday.
After firing a 339 on Monday, the Cavaliers returned to card a 358 for a two-round tally of 697 to fall to tenth place in a field which featured seven teams ranked in the top 20 in either the NAIA or NCAA Division II.
Holding a two-stroke lead after Monday’s competition, California Baptist (318-323—641) held off CSU Monterey Bay (320-324—644) to win the team title by three stokes. Sonoma State (332-332—662) edged Nebraska-Omaha (341-322—665) for third while British Columbia (341-324—665) narrowly defeated Victoria for fifth place (336-331—667) to give the tournament four teams within five strokes of each other in the final standings.
Cal Baptist’s Malim Thorberg (75-76—151) escaped a first-day tie to post a six-stroke lead for medalist honors over Victoria’s Anne Balser (75-82—157).
Freshman Holly Speer (84-88—172) led the Concordia quartet after tying for 31st place.
The Cavalier’s next three scorers all finished within three strokes of each other with Kim Tilton (85-90—175) finishing in a tie for 40th, Kim Lindow (84-92—176) in a tie for 42nd and Lindsay Aho (86-91—177) in a tie for 45th.
The Cavs continue its spring season at the Cascade Collegiate Conference event hosted by Warner Pacific at Stone Creek Golf Course on April 6-7.
