Concordia Cross Country Signs Southern California's Marcus Nelson
PORTLAND, Ore.—Marcus Nelson, a senior at West Hills High School, located outside of San Diego, has signed to continue his education and compete in cross country and track and field at Concordia University, Cavalier head coach Randy Dalzell announced today.
Nelson has been a member of the Wolfpack distance program since his freshman year. He is a three-time captain of the cross country squad, earning all-league honors on three occasions. As a senior, Nelson placed second at the CIF finals and 37th at the California Division II state championships with a 15:58.
“I really think Marcus has what it takes to run well at the next level,” West Hills head coach Bill Cleves said.
On the track, Nelson placed first in the 3,200 at the Grossmont North League Prelims with a 4:39.66 and second in the 3,200 finals with a 10:05.06. Nelson was also a member of the Wolfpack soccer team for four seasons as a defender.
