Mountain View's Neimann, Central Catholic's Recker Sign with Concordia Women's Soccer
PORTLAND, Ore.—Robyn Neimann, a senior at Mountain View High School, and Indigo Recker, a senior at Central Catholic High School, have singned to continue their education and play soccer for Concordia University, Cavalier head coach Grant Landy announced today.
Neimann was a four-year standout for Mountain View High School, earning first-team All-IMC honors as a junior and again as a senior after second-team honors as a sophomore. Neimann was a member of four straight state qualifying teams, helping the Cougars to the 5A state semifinals in 2006 and the championship game in 2008. Neimann also competed in track and field for three seasons as a jumper.
"Robyn will bring versatility and athleticism to our team. She will immediately fill our need for another athletic goalkeeper, but she has played predominantly on the field, so we may use her there as well,” Landy said.
Recker also played for four straight Oregon state tournament teams as a defender for Central Catholic High School. Recker was a first-team all-conference selection as a senior and guided the Rams to the 6A Oregon state championship match as a junior.
Recker will join former Central Catholic teammate Shelby Bloodworth, another member of the 2009 CU recruiting class, as a Cavalier in 2009.
"Indy is a very smart defender who will give us some depth next year on the backline,” Landy said. “She is a good organizer and has a lethal free kick. She has a solid background of strong club and high school experiences and more importantly, she is a great student and has a terrific personality that will fit in well with our group."
Concordia finished the 2008 season ranked No. 4 in the NAIA. The Cavs went undefeated throughout the season until reaching the NAIA Championship match against No. 2 Lee University. Its record 23-1-1 record set a school mark for wins and winning percentage. Completing his 12th season at the helm, Landy is ranked No. 6 all-time in wins at the NAIA level with a 213-45-15 (.807) overall record.
