CHICO, Calif. - Stephanie Helm recorded the biggest win in the short history of The College of Idaho women's track program, running the second-fastest time in the NAIA this season, crushing the competition in the 5,000-meters at the Chico Distance Carnival.

The sophomore set a University Stadium record in winning the race in 17:07.80 - breaking the school record by a whopping 36 seconds, while winning the race by 43 seconds.

Just behind Helm was Tegan Troutner, who met the NAIA "A" mark with her third-place time of 17:53.05.

Also running well on the opening day of the meet was Molli Lee-Painter, who hit the NAIA "B" mark in setting a school record in the 3,000-steeplechase (11:38.36).  On the men's side, Geoff Williams claimed the title in the 3,000-steeple (9:51.51), while Paul Sartin missed the NAIA "B" standard by less than two seconds in the 5,000 (15:13.86).

The Coyotes also had competitors today in Pocatello, competing in the Idaho State Multi-Events - with Emily McCutchan recording 3,670 points in the heptathlon and Andy Swanson recording 4,519 in the decathlon -both meeting the minimum requirement for the Cascade Conference Championships.
