CU's Eric Burck Smashes School 10,000 Record at Mt. SAC Relays
WALNUT, Calif.—Competing in one of the premier track and field events in the world, Concordia senior Eric Burck established a news school record with a 30:06.25 in the 10,000 meters at the Mt. SAC Relays on Thursday.
Burck’s time would rank No. 1 in the nation according to the most recent NAIA performance list, but should come in second overall as Azusa Pacific’s Mugat Abednego crossed in front of Burck with a 29:47.76 to finish seventh overall.
“This makes him a contender for the title in what represents a huge step forward in his progress for the event,” Concordia head coach Randy Dalzell said. “This was a perfect setup for nationals.”
Burck’s time took more than 45 seconds off Tim Badley’s school record of 30:53.05. Badley recorded his school record in a fourth-place finish at the 2008 NAIA Outdoor Championships in an All-America obtaining performance.
