EUGENE, Ore.— Sophomore Linsie Michels lowered her own school record in the 800 while senior Annie Hess won her 2009 debut in the discus to highlight Concordia action at the Oregon Relays held at Hayward Field on Saturday.

Michels cut just shy of a full two seconds off her season best of 2:13.51 with a 2:11.69 in a sixth-place finish on Saturday. Michels’ new time would rank No. 4 on the most current NAIA performance list.

Also improving her season best n the track, Andria Scheese placed third overall in the ‘A’ section of the women’s 1,500 with a 4:36.84, dropping more than five seconds off her previous season best of 4:41.97. The effort gives Scheese the No. 6 mark in the NAIA.

In her season debut, two-time defending NAIA champion Annie Hess uncorked a 165-11 in the discus to topple the eight-athlete field. Colorado State’s Missy Faubus placed second with a 165-9 while Wichita State’s Kate Schaake finished in third place with a 156-9. The distance easily qualified Hess for the NAIA outdoor championships as well as placing her No. 1 on the performance list.

Also taking a first-place finish for the Cavaliers, Jessy Brown was clocked in 3:57.65 in the 1,500, missing the provisional bar of 3:57.60 by 0.05. Fellow Cav Cordero Cisneros crossed in fifth place with a 4:01.72.
