The Mounties slammed 4 homeruns today to defeat the Wolves.

LA GRANDE, Ore. - The Mountaineers finished their last regular season home game on the Peggy Anderson Field today and railed up the points. Eastern Oregon swept Walla Walla University in the double header today 9-0 and 11-0.

During the first contest the Wolves held Eastern to only one run. The next two innings EOU had big bats as they had 4 runs each inning. The wolves held the Mountaineers scoreless the fourth inning. The Mountaineers won 9-0 in five innings.

EOU's Suzie Espinoza and Krista Kountz big bats for the Mountaineers, as they both knocked one over the fence. Megan Platz and Iris Woodhead stepped up to the plate with strong hits and 2 RBI's apiece. Eastern had 8 batters left on base and completed only 1 error during the first game. The Mountaineers had 13 hits compared to Walla Walla's 3 hits.

The second contest, the Mountaineers had strong defense, as well big bats at the plate. EOU opened up the game to score 5 runs in both the first and second innings to take a 10-0 lead going into the top of the third inning. Eastern held Walla Walla University scoreless throughout the entire second game and went on to only score one run in the fourth inning to defeat the Wolves 11-0.

EOU's pitcher Kayli Johnston had not only 2 homeruns, but 6 RBI's. Teammate Crystal Weseman also had 3 RBI's. The Mountaineers had big bats once again with 11 hits to the Wolves 1 hit during the second name.

Next weekend, the Mountaineers will travel to Oregon Tech to face the Owls on Friday, May 1st at 2 p.m. PST in Klamath Falls and will face the Raiders of Southern Oregon University on Saturday, May 2nd at 11 p.m. PST in Ashland, Oregon.
