KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University head women’s soccer coach, Erin Redwine, has announced the signing of five players for the 2009 Cascade Conference soccer season.

Mindy Nation, a 5-4 defender from Sammamish, Washington and a graduate of Skyline High School will be attending NU this fall and playing for the Eagles. Nation was team captain and a member of the Emerald City FC and also team captain and member of the Skyline High soccer team which played in the WIAA state soccer playoffs. An outstanding student, Nation was named to the Honor Roll at Skyline in the 2007 and 2008 school years.

Hannah McGraw, 5-7 defender from Issaquah, Washington and Issaquah High School. She has played for the Eastside FC since 2005. While at Issaquah High School, McGraw was a 3-year varsity starter and was named to the All-Kingco Conference first team in the 2007-08 season. She has been an Athletic Scholar at Issaquah High all four years, maintaining a 3.5 grade point average.

Chelsi Pennington, a 5-9 forward from Kentwood High School and Kent, Washington. She has been a three year varsity starter at Kentwood and was 2008-09 MVP, All-South Puget Sound League, and member of the 2nd team All-State team. In the 2007-08 season, her Kentwood team won the SPSL championship. Chelsi has played for the Division1 Dosvedayna team since 2005. During the 2006-07 season, Pennington also played basketball at Kentwood and was team captain and voted team MVP.

Amanda Attaway, 5-2 defender from Maple Valley, Washington and a transfer from Grand Canyon University played for the Dosvedayna club team from 2004 to 2006 who were State Cup Champions in 2005 and a State Cup finalist in 2006. Attaway was a three varsity player and team captain while at Kentlake High School and was named to the SPSL All-Defensive first team in the 2005-06 season. She also earned a varsity letter in track while at Kentlake High. Amanda graduated from Kentlake in 2007 with honors and received the 2007 Leadership Student of the Year Award.

Jordan Wilson, 5-5 defender, Snoqualmie, Washington and Mount Si High School. During the 2008-09 season Wilson was a team captain on the Kingco 3A championship team and was awarded the Most Inspirational Player Award for the team. Mt. Si was a quarterfinalist in the WIAA state playoffs finishing in 7th place. Wilson also played for Division 1 club team Eastside FC who were 2009 Challenge Cup Champions.

“Our strong core of eleven returning players will be joined by a young but talented group of athletes this fall,” stated coach Redwine. “These new players are excited and motivated to contribute their strengths and help build on what has already been established.”
