Jesuit's Andrew Kiyokawa to Run for Concordia
PORTLAND, Ore.—Jesuit High School senior Andrew Kivokawa, one of the top prep distance runners in the state of Oregon, has signed to continue his education and complete in cross country and track and field at Concordia University, Cavalier head coach Randy Dalzell announced.
“Andrew is one of the top prep runners in the Northwest and comes from a great program at Jesuit high school,” Dalzell said. “His academic and spiritual background as well as his personal commitment level to high level training and racing seems to be a great fit with what we are doing here at Concordia University. We are very excited to add him to our program.”
Last fall, Kiyokawa placed third overall at the 6A Oregon State Cross Country Championships. After helping the Crusaders to a team title, Kiyokawa went on to compete at the Nike Cross Country Nationals where he helped the Portland XC Club to a 13th-place finish. On the track, Kiyokawa has been clocked at 4:19 in the 1,500 and 9:11 in the 3,000 on the track as a junior.
