OREGON CITY, Ore. – In the final regular season conference tournament, Concordia used a combined 4-over 292 en route to winning the Warner Pacific Invitational by 44 strokes over Northwest Christian Tuesday at Stone Creek Golf Club.
A six-stroke lead after the opening round ballooned to 27 after 36 holes and then 44 by the conclusion of the three-round event, as the Cavaliers combined to shoot 17-over par (301-288-292=881) over the two days.
After trailing second place Corban by 14 strokes after 36 holes, Northwest Christian shot a single-round school-record 7-over 295 in the third and final round to leap frog over two teams into the runner-up position (321-309-295=925). Corban concluded the event in third place thanks to a combined 71-over (307-309-319=935), while was four strokes ahead of The College of Idaho (317-311-311=939). Tournament-host Warner Pacific rounded out the team totals in fifth place with a 139-over (338-335-330=1,003).
Individually, Concordia's Marc Arima used steady play throughout the tournament en route to shooting a combined 2-under 214 (72-70-72) to win the event by five strokes over Cavalier teammate Will Snow (75-75-69=219).
Rounding out the Top 5 were Northwest Christian's Brent McKee (76-73-73=222), Northwest Christian's Justin Ahrens (79-76-68=223), and Concordia's Jared Moe (76-72-75=223).
Corban's Joey Duwe (71-72-81=224) was the top finisher for the Warriors thanks to a sixth place showing, while The College of Idaho's Tyler Thurston (77-80-75=232) and Warner Pacific's Jon Gaffney (82-79-76=237) were the top finishers for their respective teams.
The conference schedule will conclude on Monday & Tuesday, April 20th & 21st, at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships presented by Diamond Woods Golf Course beginning each day at 8:00 a.m. in Monroe.
