OREGON CITY, Ore. – In perfect 70-plus degree weather, Concordia ran away with the team title over The College of Idaho by a combined 92 strokes at the Warner Pacific Invitational on Tuesday at Stone Creek Golf Club.
The Cavaliers held a 29-stroke lead after the opening round before extending their lead to 64 strokes after 36 holes of play. Once the final putt dropped in the third and final round, Concordia had built its lead to 92 strokes to bring home its fourth straight conference crown this season.
Concordia finished at a combined 111-over (324-326-325=975) versus C of I's 203-over (353-361-353=1,067), while the other three teams – Corban, Northwest Christian, and Warner Pacific – were unable to field full teams due to injuries.
Individually, Concordia's Lindsay Aho (78-78-77=233) extended her seven-stroke overnight lead to a final 13-stroke victory over fellow Cavalier teammate Kim Tilton (82-81-83=246).
Rounding out the Top 5 were Northwest Christian's Ashley King (87-78-83=248), Concordia's Kim Lindow (80-84-84=248), and Concordia's Holly Speer (84-86-81=251).
The College of Idaho's Cecilia Garcia (85-88-86=259) finished in the Top 10 individually, while Warner Pacific's Rachel Murphy (95-91-90=276) and Corban's Morgan McComish (116-108-103=327) ended the tournament in the Top 20.
The 2008-09 Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament schedule will conclude on Monday & Tuesday, April 20th & 21st, at the CCC Championships presented by Diamond Woods Golf Course beginning each day at 8:00 a.m. in Monroe.
