PORTLAND, Ore. – A total of 97 Cascade Collegiate Conference student-athletes – 49 women and 48 men – will be among those participating in next week’s NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Ralph Korte Stadium on the campus of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, just outside of St. Louis.
Concordia, which last week captured the CCC men’s and women’s conference titles, leads the way with 34 qualifiers – 19 women and 15 men. Eastern Oregon, runner-up in both the men’s and women’s team scoring at last week’s CCC Championships, will have 23 athletes competing – 14 men and nine women.
Other CCC teams with representation in the three-day meet which runs May 21-23 include College of Idaho (10), Southern Oregon (10), Oregon Tech (8),Warner Pacific (5), Northwest (5), Evergreen (1) and Cascade (1).
The CCC has the top-seeded performer in two events – Concordia’s Greg Schultz (63.30 meters) in the men’s hammer and Annie Hess (52.09 meters) in the women’s discus.

► Six of the 16 athletes in the decathlon are from the CCC (seed in parentheses): Eastern Oregon’s Lucas Ohmes (5), Chris Hoppie (6) and Ivan Staeheli (8), Warner Pacific’s Brett Van Asch (13), and Southern Oregon’s Alex Waroff (15).
► Three of the top five seeds in the men’s javelin are from Concordia: Paul Roshau (2), Eric Whalen (3) and Jesse Staub (5). Others include OIT’s Kyle Gomez (8) and Bryant Sentman (16), and Concordia’s Tim Wyland (18).
► In addition to Schultz’ nation-leading mark in the men’s hammer, the CCC is represented by three athletes from Eastern Oregon – Chris Dilley (3), Mitch Wheelhouse (13), and Quinten Baxter (21). Concordia’s Michael Wright is seeded 25th.
► Concordia’s Eric Burck is seeded third in the 10,000 meters and sixth in the 5,000 meters.
► Southern Oregon has four athletes seeded among the top 10 in their respective events: Cameron Kreuz (5th, 1500 meters), Joe Rath (6th, 10,000 meters), David Laney (7th, 10,000 meters), and Ryan Ghelfi (10th, 10,000 meters).
► Six of the top 11 seeds in the men’s 10,000 meters are from the CCC.
► EOU is represented in the men’s 4x400 and 4x800 meter relays.
► College of Idaho’s Stephanie Helm is seeded fifth in the women’s 5,000.
► Women's relay teams include Concordia (4x100, 4x400), Eastern Oregon (4x400), and College of Idaho (4x800).
► In addition to Hess in the women’s discus, Concordia has three other entrants in the event: Emily Redmayne-Titley (12), Kristine Leonard (13) and Katherine Tripp (15). Tripp is also seeded third in the women’s shot put, with Leonard seeded 13th in the shot.
► In the women’s javelin, the CCC has four of the top six and five of the top seven entrants, led by Concordia’s Lauren Sexton (2) and OIT’s Sarah Schelb (3).
