Yotes Sweep Tech
Klamath Falls, OR – Heather Dixon hit one of five College of Idaho 2-run home runs, as the Lady Yotes swept a doubleheader at Oregon Tech 9-4 and 5-3. College of Idaho ends the regular-season with a 32-17 record and a 20-4 Cascade Conference record good for first place and a trip to the NAIA Women’s World Series in Decatur, Alabama. Oregon Tech ends its season at 21-20 and 11-13 to finish in fourth place in the Cascade Conference.
With her first inning blast in Game 1, Dixon set a new Cascade Conference record for home runs in a season with 17. Kristen Haugen hit her first two collegiate home runs, while Jody Zillner hit her 6th home run of the year and picked up her 12th win in a row in the circle, her 20th of the season. Dixon, Haugen, Haley Butcher, Amy Rhoades, and Donnae Carrell all had 2 hits for the Yotes. Ashleigh Larson had 2 hits including her 3rd home run of the season for Oregon Tech with Sunceray Titus also picking up 2 hits in the loss.
Game 2 saw Oregon Tech build a 3-1 lead on a first inning Titus 2-run home run and 3rd inning RBI single by Brittany Warren. The Yotes then scored 2-runs on a Stacy Smith two-out single in the 5th inning to tie the game at 3. Nikki Shumway then slugged her first career home run, a 2-run shot, in the 6th to give the visitors the sweep.
Brooke Judy picked up her 12th win of the season for the Coyotes with Becca Anderson falling to 12-7 getting the loss for Oregon Tech.
