CCC Players of the Week Named in Track, Softball
PORTLAND, Ore. -- The following student-athletes have been recognized as Cascade Collegiate Conference Athletes of the Week for the period April 27-May 3:
Male Track Athlete of the Week
Concordia’s Cordero Cisneros, a junior from Grandview, Wash., clocked a time of 1:53.72 in the 800 meters at the Pacific Twilight to earn an NAIA automatic qualifying mark. Cisneros’ time currently ranks No. 2 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference and is the second-fastest time in Cavalier history.
Male Field Athlete of the Week
Warner Pacific’s Cameron Hamilton, a freshman from Olympia, Wash., continued his season-long improvement in the long jump, registering a career-best mark of 20-5 ¼ at the Pacific Twilight.
Female Track Athlete of the Week
Warner Pacific’s Haley Ricker, a freshman from St. Helens, Ore., posted times of 12.71 in the 100 and 26.42 in the 200 at the Pacific Twilight. She also ran a leg on WPC’s 1600-meter meter relay team, which finished third.
Female Field Athlete of the Week
Concordia’s Danielle Ferguson, a sophomore from Gresham, Ore., jumped 36-10 ¼ in the triple jump at the Pacific Twilight to attain a provisional NAIA qualifying mark. Ferguson’s mark represented a career best and is currently the top mark in the CCC this season.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Southern Oregon’s Jordyn Kurtz, a freshman from Tacoma, Wash., posted a 5-1 record and set a Raider record with her 30th complete game of the season. In 42 innings of work, Kurtz, struck out 29 batters and had an ERA of 1.83.
Softball Player of the Week
College of Idaho’s Heather Dixon, a senior first baseman from Eagle, Idaho, set a single-season Cascade Collegiate Conference record with her 17th homer of the season in a win at Oregon Tech. Dixon, who batted .588 in six games, also set a C of I school record for RBI’s (44) in a season.
