PORTLAND, Ore. – Oregon Tech’s Ryson Mauricio and Josh Strom, who helped propel the Hustlin’ Owls to an NAIA West South Division baseball crown and a school-record 33 victories, have been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, in a vote of the CCC’s head coaches. OIT freshman pitcher Neil Emerson was named the CCC’s Newcomer of the Year.

The All-CCC team is comprised of players from the four Cascade Collegiate Conference institutions which sponsor baseball: College of Idaho, Concordia, Corban, and Oregon Tech.

Mauricio earlier this week was honored as the Player of the Year in the NAIA West, a 10-team grouping that includes the four CCC institutions, University of British Columbia, Lewis-Clark State, Cal State San Marcos, Patten, Simpson, and Bethany. Other CCC players named to the All-NAIA West team included Oregon Tech’s Lee Eklund (catcher) and Zach Earle (shortstop), College of Idaho’s Cody Brubaker (outfield), and Concordia’s Brett Hawley (pitcher).

A junior from Mililani, Hawaii, Mauricio set single-season school records for runs (53), total bases (148), hits (85), doubles (21), RBIs (69) and home runs (14). He led OIT with a .368 batting average and .658 slugging percentage.

Strom, a senior from Canby, Ore., posted an 8-4 record with a 3.16 ERA. He had six complete games and struck out 72 batters in 88 1/3 innings pitched.

Emerson, from Phoenix, Ore., posted a 6-4 record with four complete games and a team-best 3.01 earned run average.

College of Idaho’s Shawn Humberger was named the CCC Coach of the Year for the fifth consecutive year and sixth time since 2002.

Concordia won the Team Champion of Character Award.
