Volleyball Transfer Brittany Barstad Commits to Concordia
PORTLAND, Ore.— Concordia University volleyball coach Melanie Hambelton announced Western Oregon freshman and Estacada (Ore.) High School product Brittany Barstad is transferring to CU to continue her education and join the volleyball program.
Hambelton was the coach at Estacada H.S. where Barstad earned second-team all-state honors following her junior and senior seasons. Barstad was also selected to the state all-tournament teams in her final two seasons.
“I’m really excited to start coaching Brittany again. I have coached her for many years and I think she can add a lot to our tram in terms of defensive quickness and enthusiasm,” Hambelton said. “She is very quick and is a great communicator on the court.”
Barstad was a four-year letterwinner in volleyball as well as part of the equestrian team. She played in 11 matched for Western Oregon last season as a freshman, collecting 33 digs. She tallied a season best 12 digs against Simpson College.
