Brent Ericksen has added 25 men and 13 women to the SOU roster.
SOU Track/XC Programs Continue to Grow
ASHLAND, ORE - SOU head track and field and cross country coach Brent Ericksen’s busy recruiting season wrapped up this week with the addition of six junior college transfers.
Seth Lindquist (Jumps/Lane CC), Kwame Agyemang (Sprints/Deanza JC), Wendell Sells (Sprints/Hartnell JC), Kenny Guereque (Sprints/Hartnell JC), Ruben Martinez (Distance/Rio Hondo JC) and Amy Nelson (Hurdles/Lane CC) will all compete for the Raiders during 2009-10.
This past recruiting season resulted in 25 additions to the men’s team and 13 to the women’s roster.
Agyemang, Sells and Guereque will give the Raiders some much needed depth in the sprints. Agyeman has career-bests of 10.90 in the 100 and 22.12 in the 200. Sells ran 11.14 in the 100 and 22.38 in the 200, while Guereque’s best times are 11.26 and 22.63.
“All three have the potential to make a tremendous impact at the conference level and can help both of our relay teams,” Ericksen said.
Lindquist should immediately turn some heads in the jumps. Lindquist’s best in the triple jump is 47.5 and that mark alone would rank third in SOU school history.
“The addition of Seth really strengthens our jumps,” Ericksen said. “He was one of the most talented junior college jumpers in the Nation and has the unique ability to do all four jumps. He is already a national level performer in the triple jump and isn’t that far off in some of the other events.”
Martinez and Nelson will compete on both the track and field and cross country teams.
Martinez placed sixth in the California Junior College State Championships in cross country and also placed in the 5,000 and 10,000 during the track season.
Nelson battled injuries last year at Lane and has a ton of potential if healthy.
