PORTLAND, Ore.—Stephanie Brown Trafton, the Olympic championship in the discus last year in Beijing, will compete at the World Championship Preview on July 25 at the Concordia University Throw Center in North Portland.

Trafton won the U.S. championship last month in Eugene and will be representing the United States at the World Championships in August in Berlin. Her gold medal last year was the first by an American woman in the discus since 1932.

Competition will begin at 1:45 p.m. with the men's hammer and will conclude with the women's discus at 4:30.

Among the other competitors will be Sam Crouser, a 17-year-old high school junior from Gresham, Ore., who set the American Junior record earlier this summer in the javelin, and Kim Kreiner, who will be attempting to record the World Championships ‘A’ standard (200-1) in the javelin in order to compete in Berlin.
