CALDWELL, Idaho -- For the fourth consecutive season, The College of Idaho volleyball team will begin the season as one of the elite teams in the nation, ranked No. 18 in the preseason NAIA Top-25 Coaches Poll, released Tuesday by the national office in Kansas City, Mo.

Two other CCC teams received votes in the poll -- Southern Oregon earned 78 points (for 26th place) and Eastern Oregon tallied three points.

The Lady Yotes, who finished last season 24-10, are coming off their third-straight Cascade Conference championship, their third-straight CCC Tournament title, and their third trip to the NAIA National Tournament in the last four years. It marks the 34th time that the squad has been nationally ranked and the 45th-straight week that the Coyotes have received votes in the poll.

Three C of I opponents were in the poll - No. 2 ranked Concordia-Irvine, whom the Lady Yotes open in the season against at the Comfort Inn Invitational in Lewiston next weekend, along with CCC rivals Southern Oregon and Eastern Oregon. Two other teams that figured to make a presence in the poll --Lewis-Clark State and Great Falls -- were not in the balloting, as the Frontier Conference rater failed to submit their conference information.

The Yotes will open up the 2009 season the weekend of Aug. 28-29, meeting Concordia-Irvine, Lewis-Clark State, Northwest, and Great Falls in Lewiston.
