LEWISTON, Idaho - After a long evening drive following the NU win over Walla Walla in Kirkland yesterday, the Northwest University  faced some tough competition today in the Lewis-Clark State Invitational and lost their first two matches to host Lewis-Clark State and Frontier Conference University of Great Falls in three game matches.

In the morning match-up with LCSC (1-0), the Eagles fought hard but lost in three games, 25-15, 25-10 and 25-8. Freshman Breanna Covey (Arlington, Wash.) had 6 kills for NU while teammate Noel Myers (Soph., Waianae, Hawaii) led the Eagles with 9 digs and freshman Lauryn Ernster (Bothell, Wash.) added 12 assists.

The afternoon match brought another Frontier Conference NAIA Division I opponent in the University of Great Falls. NU battled UGF (4-1) in the first game, losing a close 25-22 contest and then fell 25-11 and 25-15 as UGF completed the three game sweep. The young Eagles led in both games one and three but couldn't hold on for the wins. Lauryn Ernster had 9 assists and 10 digs. Lauren Holtz (Junior, Brier, Wash.) added 15 digs for the Eagles.

The Eagles (1-2) will now play again Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. as they take on CCC foe and #18 ranked College of Idaho. The competition doesn't get any easier as NU faces #2 ranked Concordia (Calif.), who finished last season with a 31-6 record in the NAIA Division I GSAC.
